hey everyone, this is jeffrey gunter, and this group has had a very exciting week so far, and we're only half done.
well, i am very lonely, because only 4 of our group (myself, will mortenson, shaun, and greg) have remained in accra today while the rest of the group has moved on to a village 3 hours away. we will join them early in the morning.
wow, there is so much to say here, God has done SO many amazing things this week and we look forward to many more. i have so many stories running through my head right now that there is no way i will remember all of them when i get home. we have seen God move in so many ways this week, and everyone, in and out of our group, has felt his presence with us. We thank you so much for all your prayers, and your comments have been very helpful to us as well. every one of us is feeling the effects of the trip, but i can say without a doubt that not a single person in this group has allowed that to get in the way of what they came here to do.
the four of us left in accra spent the day working on the construction of the pole barn children's building for Pastor Odai's church. i must say it is coming on quite nicely; however, our own building skills are not. for some reason every piece of wood one of us tries to cut with a saw suddenly turns to stone and refuses to cut...while the african workers could cut it blindfolded with a bread knife.
It is a completely different world here in africa. we could tell from the minute we got off the plane. it is a completely different experiance to watch videos and look at pictures of people who live off of 3 dollars a day, it is another to spend those days with them. everyone here is amazing. all anyone here does is help others, no one is out for himself. there is so much trust and love between the ghanaian people i only wish that everyone in america could experiance it.
also, there is the small issue of the language barrier. when the people around you finally decide to speak english, you are lucky to make two or three words out of what they are saying. it is a difficult thing to talk slowly, without an accent, and leave out american slang. it is also difficult to play soccer (futbol) with kids who have no problem hitting a 4 foot wide goal with a soccer ball from 20 yards away. in fact, it is hard to play soccer when every single person on the continent is better than you. this includes men walking by in business suits, young children who pick up a stray ball...anyone.
dad, mom, ty and carter i miss you guys so much, i wish you could be here to see all this. i will be home soon. bye!!!

Thanks for sharing your heart, Jeffrey! You did a wonderful job of bringing what you guys are experiencing to life for all of us back home. As I have said before, we are so proud of all of you. We pray for you daily & know that God has you in the palm of His hand as you do His work.
Take care of yourselves & we'll see you soon.

PS: Brent said to tell you hi & be safe!
Hey Crew....
Hope all is well. We know you guys are making a difference. Keep in mind you may not know all the people you have touched with the gospel until we all meet in Heaven. Hang in there and stay safe.
Zach we are very proud of you and hope to see you soon!!

Until last night, my prayers had been so focused on SAFETY and PROTECTION for you guys. I don't know what the bush might look like but it sounds scary, a bit trecherous, and I wasn't excited about you guys making that trip. God allowed me those prayers until last night, when He so clearly said -"OK JEN, I've got it, keep them safe. Now don't you want to see me do something amazing through them while they are there?" So my prayers have changed - I'm no longer praying with concern in my heart but with faith that our creator has you in His hands. I can't wait to hear what huge things He's asking you all to be a part of.
Jeff, Shaun and Greg, thank you for keeping us updated - you guys are amazing and I'm glad you're able to connect with the people there through the building project. What a blessing your investment of time and sweat will be to that community for AGES to come!
Love, Jen

Zach, while I couldn't make this trip with you, I know you are having once in a life time experiences over and over every day. I am sure all of your senses have been reawakened and heightened to all that God has going on around you. I just wanted you to know that because you were willing to make the trip, that new awareness is true at home also. All day, every day, I cant' wait to get to the computer to get another glimpse to see what you guys are doing. Every picture and every word is gone over and over again to see you or learn about what you're doing. With me having this experience from so far away with so little information, I can only imagine how much more the people you are helping are hungry for anything and everything you can give them. I am very proud of you and can't wait to hear all the details. Love Dad.

Alison and Beth...From the sounds of it you guys are having an unimaginable journey being newspaper boys for the Gospel(Rom 10:15) in Ghana. Sharing and being shared with. Casting bread on the water with incredible dividends for years to come. All of you are having a huge impact for so many people. Its kind of an Isa 43:19-20 thing. Your team is a river in the desert blessing all in a hot and dry land.... here and Ghana. Or maybe two legged flowers putting off a fragrance of Christ to those being saved... IICor 2:15 through acts of love and sacrifice. I'm very proud of you for stepping out and doing the work ministering Christ to so many people in so many ways in such a far off place.
I'm looking for some hugs when you get home. It would be really cool if you could share some of the experience is Ashanti or one of the other dialects there in Ghana but English will work too.
I'll keep the prayers pumping til you get home.
Love dad
Stephanie, Just wanted you to know we are thinking about you and your travel buddies. Can not wait to hear about your trip! See you in a few days. love mom
I'm posting this for Candace Morton:
Hi Friends,
Just want to send a note from home to tell you we are praying for you and are so excited to hear your messages back to us. I can tell from your stories God is working great wonders and I'm so thankful to have a connection as a prayer supporter. Know that you are missed and we pray for safety, good travel, good health but most importantly even more seeds and conversions for Christ will happen in your work.
Much love, Candace Morton
This morning during my quiet time I read this verse, "Sing about a fruitful vineyard, I the Lord, watch over it, I water it continually, I guard it day and night so that no one may harm it." Is 27:3
It made me think of this youth group, you in Ghana and the kids who stayed back here and are doing mission work in Tulsa and holding you all close in prayer. You are God's fruitful vineyard, spreading his love, his hope and his word here and in Ghana. God is watching over you and continually feeding you. He is so faithful. Can't wait to see you again.
Becky
oxoxox Anna!!
Zach,
So, I have a confession to make: I think I check this blog just as often as mom and dad now. :P
And I just want you to know that I pray for you like crazy, all the time. I love you so much, and my heart gets so full when I think about all that I know God is teaching you and using you for over there. I can't wait for you to come home and tell me all about it. :)
I know you have got to be so tired, I'm praying for strength for you. I continue to pray that God simply overwhelms you with how wonderful and loving He is.
Oh, and you may be mom's favorite... but word on the street is Grandma and Peepaw prefer me:P
Love,
your big sister
Hey Karol!
I'm headed off to the beach, but I wanted to let you know that I'm praying for you and I love you so much! Don't forget all of your stories until I get back, k?
Love, Em
P.S. I was watching an episode of "That 70's Show" and it was the one where Eric was leaving to teach in africa and he had to get all of these shots before he left. His quote: "I dont understand why I have to get so many shots. I mean, what's so bad about yellow fever? I could use some color." Anyways, made me think of you! =)
Dear Q and Crew,
We think and pray and pray and think of you all continually!! Please know how much we love you and miss you, but know you are busy being the hands and feet of Jesus. Can't wait to see you!!
Love, Mom and Dad
ps Jazmine misses you, too!! Our laps are not the same!!
