Day 3...entry 1
We just finished at the healing service. What a blessing! In the service they offered each team member a gift. They also had one for Lauren. We were very moved. They did not connect immediately that she was the one from our team that had died. Will Mortensen had just talked about her in his testimony. Then Pastor Odai talked about her. But when he called her name, he didn't recognize the name immediately. Then when he did. He held it up, and said "She is here in spirit. We are saving souls for you, Lauren!" We were all very moved. The entire experience was overwhelming. In addtion to Will, Rachel and Julia also shared their testimonies. All 3 of them as well as David (preaching) and Skip did absolutely incredible this morning. All the testimonies flowed into each other seamlessly. God truly controlled everything that happened today. If you could only have seen our students laying hands on people, ministering and praying. You would have been touched in a tremendous way. More tonight. Thank you for your prayers. We begin our "Youth Explosion" in a couple of hours.

"... whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel." Phil 1:27
Eric and I just finished praying for you, this verse says perfectly how we feel. We are absent from you but we hear from you that you are standing fast, one mind, one spirit for your faith in Jesus. We are awed by you and all that God is doing through you.

"He made His disciples get into a boat and go before Him to the other side..." Mark 6:45
The disciples were obedient to get in the boat and go...their vision and purpose was to reaching the other side.
God's purpose however was that they would see "Him walking on the sea" with no shore,no success, nor goal in sight, but simply having the absolute certainty that everything is all right because they could see "Him walking on the sea"(6:49).
My prayer for each of you today is that you see "Him walking on the sea"...in Ghana.

Thank you for sharing about Lauren and including her in this trip. Thank Pastor Odai for me too. I know she with you and is celebrating your victories for Jesus and His Kingdom. I can't wait to meet all of our brothers and sisters in Christ from the church there and around the world. What an amazing God we serve!
Love you all so much,
Alicia
Oh you guys,I'm in tears and can't wait to share all of your news with Chris tonight. God is amazing! I am so grateful for this blog - it's so good to hear from you and know what specific prayer needs you have.
I have never been part of a youth group like this one. God is constantly amazing me, even in our every day lives here in Tulsa, with the the mark of HIM in you. I am honored and humbled to play a part in the amazing work He is doing in Ghana. My heart seriously soars with every entry I read.
I pray peace and deep deep rest for you guys when you're finally able to lay your heads down tonight. And energy, joy and rejuvenation in every waking moment.
"Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from Me. For I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls". Matt 11:28-29. Remember that Christ is working, you can rest in Him even in the busy-ness of your days, and trust Him to flow through you. We will continue to pray.
Love, Chris, Jen, Madeline and Hannah
PS Madeline wants to know if you've handed out the soccer balls that the kids signed at VBS :)
Oh my, It does sound like you are so busy! It is amazing what God can accomplish through his people in such a short time! I am so proud of you all and wish I could see first hand. Oh my God, I praise you for answered prayers, healing powers, restoration, joy, comfort, and for holding them in your uplifted hands.
The body is weak but the Spirit is strong. Be bold and courageous...as you have been, doing the work that God has planned for you. He has prepared the path before you, leads you, walks beside you, and will follow you; surrounding you with His love.
Loving and missing you,
Rebecca
